There has always been a divide between men and women. Often there have been numerous efforts to try to get them to see each other from a different perspective, but at the end of the day it is difficult to maintain the energy and enthusiasm to see your partner from their side and give them what they want and need.

Men seem to need the most help when it comes to expressing themselves and how they feel to their partners. Men speak the unspoken language and it is unfortunate for their partners that they have no idea what their men are saying. If you are one of those men it's time to put some sound and motion to your silent language and show your love for your partner. There are countless ways that you can show your partner exactly how you feel.

• Take Charge

  By this I mean take charge of an evening. Give your partner the entire evening off and make sure that they relax and enjoy the benefits of your hard work. Put them in front of the television so that they get a chance to listen to the news or watch their favorite show uninterrupted.

• Keep Kissing

  Every time you walk into the same room as your partner give them a small kiss on the cheek. Occasionally change it up with a longer lingering kiss. We're not talking tonsil hockey and you don't want to overwhelm your partner but you want them to know that you love them just because they are there.

• Time Away

  Give your partner the opportunity to have some time away from you, the house, children (if there are any) and encourage them to spend some time and energy on themselves. Pre-arrange for your partner to get a massage, take her down the street and let her go window shopping (a real treat if you have small children) or just place a comfortable chair and side table with a drink somewhere outside in the shade where she can read in peace.

• Message Jar

  At some stage your partner is going to ask you what it is about them that you love. Instead of just listing a couple of things, why not create a message jar? The idea behind this is that you get a jar (you can pick the size), put some cotton balls in the bottom and then make individual messages about your partner to put in the jar. Forget the corny and thoughtless comments, write about the specific things your partner does, things they say or how they compliment you. This will show them that you pay attention to the details of everyday life with your partner and don't take them for granted.

• Lighten Up

  Nothing says I love you like candle light, but to get the best effect you need to have plenty of them otherwise your candles will look out of place. Making use of tea-light candles is an inexpensive way of making your home look like the most romantic place ever. Naturally you need to be very careful about placing lots of candles around but if you do it properly you can have a stunning room. A little soft music to enhance the mood and your partner could be having a very special night.

• Call Me

  We all lead very busy lives but that is no excuse for not making time for our loved ones. Everyone can spare five minutes of their day to call their partner just to say I love you, I miss you or I'm thinking about you. A woman loves to know that they're thought about even when they are not physically with you.

• Carry a conversation

  Most men think that doing things alone will show their partner how much they love them. While these actions do make a difference, women really want their partners to express how they feel in words rather than deeds. One of the most romantic ways of doing this is taking your partner somewhere special to the both of you (where you went on your first date) and just talk. It doesn't necessarily have to be lots of deep and meaningful stuff, but you need to make a connection with your partner that deeds alone cannot make.

Being romantic with your partner does not have to mean expensive gifts or trips to exotic locations. At the end of the day your partner really wants to know about you, what's going on in your life, how you're feeling and what you're thinking about. If you make your partner feel special and loved you'll reap the benefits tenfold.
