Should we cancel the “‘5.1’Golden Week”?

Recently ,National Development and Reform Commission announces the adjusted scheme of country's legal holidays in the portal website such as sina.com,sohu.com etc .Government may increase the number of legal holidays and include some traditional festivals, such as theTomb-Sweeping Day, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival, as part of the country's legal holidays. But the “‘5.1’Golden Week” holidays maybe canceled.

   Most people hold out increasing the number of legal national holidays from 10 to 11 days.But there is a significant divergence in cancelling the “‘5.1’ Golden Week”. Professor Wang from Beijing International Studies University thinks that it brings about a series of social problem. People will enjoy better service if we carry out the new legal holiday arrangement. Professor Cai from Qing Hua university holds that the new plan will benefit everybody. Many people also complaint about the overcrowding, poor service, and the damage to scenic spotsduring the "Golden Week" holidays .

At the same time, some other people hold the contrary opinion .Professor Wang from Beijing Jiaotong University fully oppose cancelling the “‘5.1’ Golden Week” . He insists that it can boost domestic consumption.　 It is reported that tourism revenue has increased a lot during the "Golden week" . Furthermore ,he points out that people are used to having a week-long holiday to stay with their family .Many citizens also think that they can not enjoy themselves to the full in short holidays

There is no Consistent view yet .we are taking an attitude of wait and see toward the new policy.
