If kids wake up early, what should parents do to let them form a habit of lying on bed alone quietly and happily?
1. For example, you can hang an interesting Aeolian bell above the child’s bed. Then every time he wakes up, with the Aeolian bell swinging lightly in the breeze, he will be attracted by the different styles of it.
2. Equip the border of the bed with a mirror which has a smooth edge. Then your kid won’t feel lonely when he wakes up for he can see his own reflection in it.
3. After your child is able to grab things, give him a rope tied with different things for him to stir and play with. These things needn’t be very expensive. Some domestic articles which are child’s favorite toys may do. For example, small wooden ladles, cotton threat rollers and clothes hangers can all be hung on the rope and then you can just tie the rope to the bed for your child to play with. It will certainly attract his attention.
In the morning, it should be bright enough in the room for your child to see his toys clearly. If the light indoors is too weak, you can keep a lamp on with soft light or change the curtain with a light-colored one.
If you want to train the kid to get used to lying on bed alone happily, you should at first train yourself not always to wait for his waking-up while you are lying on bed. Maybe you are used to rushing to your baby every time you find he has woken up. But now perhaps you should try to let your baby say his own language freely for some time, the longer the better. When your baby becomes restless and fidgety, you can get up to have a look at him. You had better also wait for a while before getting up to see whether your baby can calm himself down which is helpful to train your baby to be independent. But if your baby keeps being restless, you ought to come to him at once to show tender care for him.
