It was a very sad day in 2004 when I canceled HBO.  But I had to do it, after Sex and the City ended there was no longer a reason to watch the pricey premium channel.

From 1998 until 2004, Sex and the City ruled the cable airwaves.  Suddenly everyone from the Midwest housewife to the Texas oil princess was sipping a Cosmopolitan while wearing their Jimmy Choo shoes.  Where else could we commiserate about the apparent lack of sane, date-worthy men and contemplate the insane possibility of breaking up via Post-It note?

Last time we left them, four long years ago…  Miranda married Steve and moved to Brooklyn.  Steve’s mother, suffering from memory impairment, moved in with the family for what is sure to be a difficult situation for everybody involved.  Charlotte and Harry, heartbroken that they cannot have children of their own, learn that they will adopt a little girl from China.  Exhausted from her chemotherapy treatment, Samantha’s normally voracious appetite for sex is killed as she tries, unsuccessfully, to push away her younger boy-toy, Smith.  And our girl new American girl in Paris, Carrie, runs away from her dancer-lover back into the arms of Mr. Big.  Or should we call him John as his name was revealed to be?

Sex and the City fans shrieked with delight when, in 2007, it was announced that all of the major players had signed on to make Sex and the City: The Movie.  The script was already complete and filming in Manhattan lasted through the autumn of 2007.  Sex and the City: The Movie is slated for a Memorial Day Weekend 2008 release, but if you must know what our favorite foursome is up to, check out the Sex and the City blog, and the just released official trailer:
