MILLENNIUM CITY PARK, which is located in western shore of beautiful Longting Lake in Kaifeng, is a large-scale historical cultural theme park with 600Mu total floor space in Chinese famous ancient city Kaifeng. It was founded in July 1992 in accordance with The MILLENNIUM CITY PARK done by Zhang Zeduan, a famous artist in Northern Song Dynasty and opened to the public in October 28th 1998. The MILLENNIUM CITY PARK is a valuable life drawing for social custom, which represents social life, social custom and building structure of Kaifeng as ancient city in Northern Song Dynasty. Although it only shows part Kaifeng, it is very easy to know other streets’ situation by supposing. What is more interesting is that Zhang Zeduan put it into drawing from life one thousand years ago while Kaifeng’s people put it into life from drawing one thousand years later. MILLENNIUM CITY PARK represents lively flourishing scenes of Kaifeng in Northern Song Dynasty. Rainbow Bridge
The bridge liking rainbow and lying across Bianhe River is called as Rainbow Bridge, one of Ten Chinese Ancient Bridge, as well as body image of the Millennium City. Rainbow Bridge adopts stoplog wood arch without columns, which is very easy to sail boats because there are no piers. Therefore, there are three such bridges over Bianhe River in Kaifeng of Song Dynasty, which makes communication of Kaifeng very easy.
Upper gate to virtue
Upper gate to virtue, which is a majestic and tall gate of a variety of gates in Kaifeng of Song Dynasty, is the symbolic building mainly described in the Millennium City.It is not only the important passage to come in and out of Kaifeng but also a borderline between city and village. Nowadays, reconstituent gate is high for 21.6m with 1,553m2 total floor area and 8m height of gateway. On the city gate tower, rich glittering colored drawing shows especially its splendor and majesty.
Kissing cloud pavilion
kissing cloud pavilion is the highest building in the garden. Seeing three red floors with up winding and four eaves with shining golden tiles of kissing cloud pavilion between sky and water, you cannot help climbing at once. Kissing cloud herein has two meanings, one refers to pavilion as high as sky to kiss cloud; another refers to blowing all the dusts of history and returning a authentic work of valuable drawing.
Water-center pavilion
Water-center pavilion in MILLENNIUM CITY PARK is surrounded by water in all direction connecting with single bridge, which shows very spacious and clear. The pavilion is very pretty with cute roof and thin beam-column. It is unmatched amusement to listen music from water-center pavilion in the soft wind.
Halls near water (Xuanhe and Xuande Halls)
Halls near water is made of Xuanhe and Xuande Halls, whose shape is very towering and majestic, which lean closely like a couple of lovers standing in the shore. The two halls, which were two big boxes for male and female guests respectively, connecting with water-center pavilion forms an imperial opera house with refined performances. It is very easy to see the whole park and kinds of amusement items performed in water from here, with seeing all the scenes in the pool.
