The hot new sleekness from Taiwan's HTC has finally landed on US soil. And, it available through CompUSA, of all places.
We're not knocking CompUSA here, but we would have thought the HTC Touch Diamond would be available through a big-box retailer with a larger US footprint than the CompUSA chain. Regardless, it looks like the electronics retailer is offering the HTC Touch Diamond, in US-trim, for about $780.
This particular variant of the HTC Touch Diamond sports a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM radio that makes sure the sexiest handset to ever roll off HTC's factory floor will play nice with American frequency bands.
Of course, the glorious 2.8-inch VGA display, GPS, WiFi, 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) and 3 megapixel camera make sure that the quad-band HTC Touch Diamond lives up to its expectations. Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional is running the show here - nothing but the best for the HTC Touch Diamond.
There's no mention of whether or not HSDPA is supported on the 850Mhz and 1900Mhz bands that us Yankees love so much, but seeing as how quad-band GSM is in the cards, it's probably a safe bet to assume that 3G is up to US-spec as well.
We can't wait to get our hands on the HTC Touch Diamond. We'd love to put that VGA display and HSDPA radio to good use. If a review unit doesn't come in soon, we're going to have to scrounge through the couch to get enough cash to buy one of these sexy handsets.
CompUSA
[UPDATE]
Chris, over at Engadget Mobile has apparently been contacted by HTC. They confirm that the HTC Touch Diamond available through CompUSA is not quad-band, like we had hoped (and got seriously excited for). The here offer from CompUSA is for the Euro-spec tri-band handset.
