The fire was at LG Chem’s Ochang laptop battery plant and this has now caused a laptop battery shortage, which has already affected Asus, HP and Dell.
The situation could get much worse as there is a rumor that customers could end up with a price hike for replacement batteries, and while Dell will not say how much this is affecting laptops they did comment by saying they are talking with other suppliers to source more batteries.
