Oh how I wish these chocolate pencils had been developed as a part of a government-funded program to draw underprivileged and illiterate adults back into schools! I’d gladly fake a below-poverty-line certificate to get my paws on one of these! Illegal and fraudulent intentions apart, I’d still love it if I could get a supply of these in the office stationary. But unfortunately, the gourmet, thus insanely expensive, chocolate pencils serve the purpose of making instant and delicately shaped shavings for high-end desserts and other gourmet preparations. Conceptualized by Japanese architect and designer Oki Sato with patissier (and Iron Chef champion) Tsujiguchi Hironobu, the Chocolate-Pencils come in a number of cocoa blends and are available exclusively through Tsujiguchi’s Tokyo boutiques. So near, yet so far!
