Having the right brush is just as important as having good quality cosmetics. Having said that, ‘good’ brushes should not cost you a fortune. Under an extremely tight budget you can do with just a few very versatile brushes, and build from there as you please.
A good brush for Powder Cosmetics should be made from natural hairs. The finer the hair the more translucent the color will be when first applied. A more coarse hair picks up a good amount of pigment and will deposit a larger amount on the skin. Depending on your needs you would pick the brush accordingly. A blending brush should always be between fine and coarse, so that blending can be done properly. I included a picture of my favorite blender. For Liquid or Creme cosmetics choose a synthetic brush. This makes them easy to clean and more sanitary between uses. These products gunk up natural haired brushes.
