PlaceSite is an online service that boosts face to face social activity. It allows heads-up computing in cafes and other urban places where people use wi-fi together, providing an alternative to the "zombie effect" that happens when location-ignorant Internet use pulls folks away from the people and activities around them. It connects people with their neighbors and builds community. It's free and anyone can set up their own PlaceSite by installing our software on a $60 wi-fi router. We're building out the PlaceSite service as an open platform, allowing people and companies everywhere to build on our location context for their users who access the Internet from PlaceSite places.
