Hi there! I know that there are a lot of long-term readers here at Bizzia’s freelance category, so before I just jumped in and started blogging, I wanted to tell you a little about myself.
The only thing I love more than writing: my fat cat, Godiva, who is as excited to be here as I am!
My name is Allison, and I’ve been a freelance writer since 2004. I actually started writing when I was just a little kid, and was looking or publishers when I was as young as 8. I got my first rejection letter when I was in fourth grade, and for many years, I gave up the idea that I could ever be a published writer, and I instead wrote just for me. An English teacher in high school changed my mind about that, and convinced me to dream big in college.
I graduated from a small, private school in December 2006 with a BA in Professional Writing. I spent the last two years of my college career doing small online jobs, amazed at the fact that this kind of freelancing work existed. None of my classes ever taught me that a freelancer could do anything other than query magazines or write for other print media! My final semester, I landed a long-term gig that didn’t pay well, but that did give me the security to jump into freelancing full time after college, rather than looking for a “real job,” as my parents would say.
Eventually, I stopped working for other writing companies and started directly contacting clients. I opened my own business, ABContent, and hired around 10 contract writers and 2 editors to work under me. Since then, I’ve scaled back on the writers, because I was doing so much management that I missed doing the actual writing!
In addition to b5Media, some of the place where I work or have worked in the past include the following: Demand Studios, LifeScript, Daily G2, Article Authors, Unreel Media, 451 Press, Green Options Media, Binge Gamer, Driving University, AfterGraduation, and Job Monkey. I’ve written about MANY topics, but the subjects I like covering the most are business, careers, football, wine, environmental/going green, pets, video games, and relationships. Here at b5, I also write for Bizzia’s news category and cover NCAA football for EveryJoe. I also work part-time at a day care center in my area, not because I have to for the money, but because I love kids and missed getting out of the house, so I enjoy writing about children/parenting too, but I don’t have any kids of my own.
I’m happy to be writing here. I may be young, but I’ve been freelancing for five years now, and I think I’ve found more success than many people in the freelancing field. I’m looking forward to sharing with you what I know, and hopefully you’ll leave me some awesome comments sharing what you’ve learned about freelancing as well!

2006年的12月，我从一所小型的私立学校毕业了，并且取得了专业写作的文学士学位。在我大学生涯的后两年里，我在网上做一些细小的工作。当我知道居然还存在着这样的自由职业工作时，我很惊讶。没有哪门课程曾经教过我，除了质疑杂志或者是专门为印刷媒介写作，一个自由工作者可以做一切事情。在最后一个学期，我获得了一份长期的工作，薪酬虽然不高，但是它对我毕业后加入自由职业者这个行业，而不是去寻找我父母称之为“正经的工作”提供了保障。
后来，我不再为其他写作公司服务了，而是开始直接地和客户联系。我开设了自己的公司，ABCContent，雇了十名合约作家以及两名编辑，在我的领导下工作。从那时候起，我就减少了写作量，因为我要管理的事务太多，自然地就无法全心全意地写作了。

在这里写作，我很开心。或许我还是很年轻，但是我已经有了五年自由撰稿人的经历，而且我觉得在自由职业者这个领域，自己比很多人都更成功。我期待着和你们分享我所知道的一切，也希望你们能给我留些话语，和大家一起分享在自由职业者方面你已经掌握到的知识。
