Since we both have school age children and volunteer at the schools often, my frriend and I debate over this quite frequently:
Do women make good school principals?
My friend says no. I say it doesn’t really make a difference. You see, we’re both from the time when there were always male principals. That was all we knew and we were cool with it. But, starting in the late 80’s and into the 90’s, women principals started showing up more and more in our schools. I think it started making some folks uneasy.
My friend contends that when the “men” were in charge, more got done and the kids weren’t the way they are these days. They insists that if the role of a principal was given back to the guys, things would be better. I disagree. I think that the best, most effective person for the job should prevail. What do you think?
