After yesterday’s successful sledding adventure, my kids and I weren’t particularly content to stay inside today. We’re supposed to get a ton of snow over the weekend and it’s going to get pretty cold so I took my girls out again. This time we couldn’t get to a large park with organized sledding, but that didn’t matter. We took our little sleds and headed around the block to our little local park. We’ve gotten so much snow this winter that a lot of places have enormous piles of snow which have been created by plows clearing the streets. One such pile was right up against (and over) the fence at the park so we climbed up and slid down into the park itself.
We did that for a while, then took a break to go play on the swings which is always fun in the snow, then we went back to sledding again. My youngest wasn’t too interested, but she sat on top of the hill and cheered us on as my oldest and I held competitions to see who could get down the hill fastest and who could go furthest.
We ended up being there for almost two hours. It was exhausting but an awful lot of fun.
I’m still looking forward to Spring, but I have to admit that Winter isn’t always all bad when the temperature is decent and you’re in the action with your kids.
