Shortly after posting the last post about shaving, I came across this article in the same Muscle & Fitness Magazine. It’s a Q & A to Ask The Diet Guru : Chris Aceto.
“Q: Does 3500 calories really equal 1 pound of fat? I don;t think I eat a lot of calories, But I’m still not losing fat.
A: Yes, 3500 calories does amount to a pound of fat. So when you eat 3500 fewer calories than the body needs, you should lose fat and get more defined, assuming you’re hitting the weights hard. But you must consider other factors. When reducing calories, do so only mildly-say 200-500 fewer a day tha you’re eating now. Such small decreases help side step metabolic adaptations that occur with dieting. Generally when you make large reductions in calories, your body’s calorie-burning engine, also known as its metabolism, can shift into a lower gear, negative fat loss. With gradual calorie decreases, down-shifting is less likely to occur.”

There is one more paragraph to this article so if you want to read it go grab yourself a copy of Muscle & Fitness. Makes you wonder how much your ingesting on an average day as opposed to how much your working to stay in shape or for that matter get into shape. Some meals, even a typical meal at a nice restaurant contain about half of those calories.
