Despite what the media would have you believe, a freakish monster made up of spare parts from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is not the current President. Apparently, some squirrelly little guy from Connecticut is, and Oliver Stone is making a small film about him.
Even though we’ve tried to forget, and some have tried to forget Stone is making W, news keep pouring in about it. The latest, word that Scott Glenn has been cast to play Donald Rumsfeld, is enough to make Aint It Cool News use multiple exclamation points at the end of their excited post. Since they don’t do that already, ever.
Forgive my sarcasm, but my stimulus check hasn’t come in yet, and I live only a few blocks away from The Capitol. You’d think it’d be quick for them to walk it over, right?
Plus, I get the feeling that attention Stone is giving to the new Father-in-law-in-Chief will make Michael Moore want to use his stimulus check to fund a sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11. Hopefully, this hunch will turn out to be untrue.
But the news is bright at least. Scott Glenn is a great talent - you probably remember him best in The Silence of The Lambs and most recently in The Bourne Ultimatum. Throw some glasses on him, and he’s a dead ringer for Rumsfeld, too. Now, if they could just make Elizabeth Banks look more matronly, the entire cast would be spot on.
Plus, it’s good that they finally cast this role, since they started filming yesterday. I know Stone is a ground breaker, but not having actors to appear on screen is a bit too revolutionary even for him.
