WikiYou is a recently launched wiki that’s devoted to the creation of an online biography for every person in the world.
With WikiYou, anyone has the ability to create and edit a biography of someone. In many regards, WikiYou is like a Wikipedia that is only concerned with information about people. So it also serves as a search engine. Each addition and revision is tracked and accounted for (to some extent) so it is possible to continually update anyone’s biography. The actual “stories” about a person show up in speech bubbles that resemble the updates you’ll see on Twitter, and tend to be rather short. You can include links, images and flash embeddable media into a “story” as well.
Editors are the most active members on the site, and will get prominent placement for stories they include about a person. There are absolutely no privacy settings, so anyone can edit anyone’s biography. WikiYou also has a separate section for Celebs. There are of course, privacy and security issues that can come about as a result, but the wiki nature of this service means that, even if content is revised, it’s not deleted.
