我对《东邪西毒》是份外喜欢的，这很容易看出来。
前段时间有机会碰到陈勋奇导演，于是趁机会问了许多关于新版《东邪西毒》的问题。如到底有没有加王祖贤戏份？主要改动在什么地方？张国荣的戏份有没有删？马友友的配乐……
陈勋奇是当年《东邪西毒》的配乐，同样也是王家卫这一次新版的配乐。

新版更容易明白梁朝伟戏份被剪短
14年前，《东邪西毒》是一部让人看得昏昏欲睡恶评如潮的电影，许多年过去，她已经变成了华语电影的经典。
问起《东邪西毒》新版的区别，陈勋奇先把王家卫赞扬了一番：“王家卫真的是一个艺术家，他很爱自己的作品，香港没有哪位导演会舍得花那么多钱把自己十几年前的作品重新再做一遍的，他用了很多时间，一帧一帧的找外国特技公司修复，每一帧画面都做得像油画一样，非常漂亮，在大屏幕看效果好极了。还有就是声效，《东邪西毒》原本配的是单声道，声效不怎么好，这次修复成5.1环绕立体声，十分震撼。” 王家卫这一行为，使人想到库布里克当年拍《巴里•林顿》，为了画面效果，花尽心思。

“事实证明，王家卫许多事情是走在时代前头的，现在看他14年前拍的《东邪西毒》一点都不过时、不落伍。”说完，陈勋奇又为内地的影迷担忧起来：“就不知修复的新版本内地能不能上映，上映的话你们也一定要去看。不上的话，过段时间应该也会出碟，到时候你们就买一张。”陈勋奇对《东邪西毒》赞叹有加，记者听着听着已经是口水直流浮想联翩。但愿戛纳之后，内地大屏幕也能看到。
之前一直有报道说新版《东邪西毒》增加了大量被删弃内容，记者向陈勋奇求证此事，陈勋奇说：“其实没有太大变化，片长仍然是1个小时30多分钟。一些地方不但没增加，还删了内容。比如梁朝伟杀马贼的那场戏，就剪短了。我配音都得重新弄过。有些地方则重新调整了顺序，比之前版本更容易让人看明白了。”
至于有影迷关心这次拿去戛纳上映《东邪西毒》是法语还是粤语问题，陈勋奇解答到：“粤语。王家卫不会为了上戛纳就配法语。他的电影，拿去国外参展的都是原声为主。因为只有原声才有那味道。”

张国荣主角地位不变王祖贤依旧没现身
当年王家卫想法太多，断断续续的拍摄《东邪西毒》，弄得镜头十分零散。整部戏除了张国荣之外，梁朝伟张曼玉等人的镜头拍得并不多，于是张叔平王家卫他们剪辑时只好硬着头皮边剪边写旁白，用旁白把画面串连起来，成为一个故事。不曾想到，如今这些旁白都已被奉为经典。

张国荣是《东》的第一号男主角，整部戏由他旁白来贯穿整个故事，由于03年哥哥张国荣自杀去世，这次新版《东邪西毒》号称重新剪辑，影迷不免担心，旁白怎么办？为了连戏，会不会找人模仿张国荣的声音？
陈勋奇表示，哥哥张国荣的戏份不变，仍以他为主，声音用的也是张国荣当年配的原声。更不可能找人来模仿代替他的声音。

当年《东邪西毒》张国荣、梁朝伟、梁家辉、张学友、张曼玉、林青霞、刘嘉玲、王祖贤八大主演中，王祖贤戏份是被删得最厉害的，市面通行版本只剩一个侧脸，如今大家对是否还原她的戏份也最为关心。陈勋奇说：“这次新版其实也没把王祖贤戏加进来。《东邪西毒》故事结构已经很完整了，加她进来容易造成破坏；另外，在欧洲认识王祖贤的人不多，没有市场……”看来并不是像外界猜测那样增加了她许多内容。
关于配乐
在众多王家卫电影的影迷心目中，其实《东邪西毒》的配乐经典得无懈可击，是最不需要修改的部分。但王家卫还是下了重手，找来了国际音乐家马友友演奏。陈勋奇依旧是新版的配乐，他是如何处理马友友的音乐呢？

“《堕落天使》之后我就决定不再做电影配乐了。隔了好几年，王家卫刘镇伟打电话过来说：‘大哥，救命，赶紧过来’他们电影音乐出现了问题，我才又去帮忙处理《天下无双》配乐。他对音乐要求很严，每次我俩合作都争执得很厉害。这次他决定重新做《东邪西毒》，请我帮忙再做这部电影的音乐，我说行，但你得给足够的时间我，不能像以前一样匆匆忙忙，他说没问题，这次你慢慢做。后来，他在北京找到了国际著名的音乐家马友友来拉音乐，我当时在法国看外景，赶不回去，他就让马友友先拉了。回去之后，他就说‘我已经找马友友拉了，你看有多少能用，实在不能用，多少你也留一点’这是王家卫的客气话，其实用谁的都无所谓，由国际这么著名的音乐家来演奏我的音乐，我求之不得，高兴得不得了。现在保留下来的配乐，前面用的是马友友的，中间用的是我的，不知大家能不能听出来。”
“在94年《东邪西毒》配乐时，我们就有很大争执。有一场张曼玉在海边的镜头，空旷的大海，我用吉他拉了几声海鸥的声音加了进去，王家卫当时就说‘怎么还有鸟叫？’想让我删掉，而我觉得加了海鸥声音效果十分幽怨，能突出张曼玉当时的心境，就一直坚持不删。到了这次新版本，我重新配乐，配完后王家卫又找到我‘怎么海鸥的声音没有了？’又要求我再加回去，哈哈哈。等我再回家翻录音带，发现带子都已经上霉了……”
王家卫临阵换枪的不良记录在电影界是出了名的，大家也都见怪不怪了。陈勋奇到底看到的是不是王家卫最终剪辑好交给戛纳的版本现在还不好说。有了王家卫，一切皆有变数——就像谁也没想到他会弄一个《东邪西毒：终极版》出来一样。

It's obvious that <Ashes of Time> is one of my most favorite movies.
Recently, I foregathered director Chenxunqi and took the chance of asking him many questions about the new < Ashes of Time>. Such as whether the film added the segments which acted by Wangzhuxian or not? What are the major modified parts of this new movie? Did they cut Mr. Zhangguorong’s acting segments? How about Mayouyou’s incidental music…
Mr. Chenxunqi matched the incidental music for the old < Ashes of Time>, similarly, he also matched the incidental music for the new < Ashes of Time> that directed by Mr. Wangjiawei.

14 years ago, < Ashes of Time> is a movie that would make audiences sleepy and received negative criticisms. However, time went by, she became the classic Chinese movie.
Taking about the differences between the old and new < Ashes of Time>, Mr. Chen praises director Wangjiawei mightily. “He is no more than an artist. He loves his productions. Any director would like to lay down so much money to reproduce his own movies filmed several years ago. He devoted lots of time, finding the oversea acrobatic companies to renovate the movie frame by frame. He made every frame just like those beautiful canvas. They looked wonderful through the big screen. And there is another thing I want to mention is the timbre. The old < Ashes of Time> was single timbre, and he renovated it into 5.1 circle dimensional sound, sounded very powerful. The hardworking of Wangjiawei reminds us Stanley Kubrick，he also rack his brains to perfect his movie <Barry Lyndon>..

”Facts proved that Mr. Wang did many things ahead the time. < Ashes of Time>, which directed by him 14 years ago, does not out of day at all.” Mr. Chen said. Subsequently, he worried about the mainland movie fans. “I don’t know whether the new edition can show in the mainland, if can, you must go and see the wonderful film. If not, you can also by the video later.” Mr. Chen appreciate the new edition with high praise, listening his description, our journalist can only lick his chops and hope that after Cannes Film fest we can have chance to appreciate it in our mainland.
It’s reported that the new edition added many a number discarded segments, when our journalist asked Mr. Chen this question, he said: “Actually, there was few change, the whole movie still lasting an hour and a half. Some segments are even being cut, such as the cut of fighting between Liangchaowei and the heisters; I had to adjust the incidental music for them. They also redressed some segments in order to make the movie more logical and easier to understand.”
Some movie fans wanted to know which language the movie would use when it’s showed on Cannes Film Fest, French or Chinese. Mr. Chen answered that Mr. Wang will use Chinese. He would never match French to his films because they are showed on Cannes Film Fest. He always use original dub in his films when he shows them in other countries, because he suggests that only use original dub can manifest the connotation of his films.

Zhangguorong is still the leading actor and WangZhuXian doesn’t come out.
When Mr. Wang directed the old edition, he mixed many feelings together, the scenes were scattered because of the intermittent screen. During the whole movie, except Zhangguorong, other actors, such as Liangchaowei and ZhangManYu, had little show time. So ZhangShuPing and Wangjiawei had to add many aside lines and bunched them into a story. Unexpectedly, those aside lines become classic lines nowadays.

Zhangguorong was the leading actor of this movie and his aside lines penetrated and linked the whole story. Mournfully, he committed suicide in 2003. In this case, many movie fans feel worried about the aside lines of the new edition. Whether they would find other people to imitate his voice?
Mr. Chen expressed that “Brother Zhang” was still the leading actor and they used his own voice in the movie. It’s impossible that to find someone to imitate his voice or replace him.

In the old edition, among the eight leading actors, including Zhangguorong, Liangjiahui, Zhangxueyou, Zhangmanyu, Linqingxia, Liujialing and Wangzhuxian, Wangzhuxian’s segments were cut seriously. Market circulate edition was being cut and left none but a side face. So many people concern about whether they would add her segments in the new edition. According to this question, Mr. Chen said: “We didn’t add her segments in the new edition, because the story was integrated and any additional segments would destroy the whole story. On the other hand, many European do not familiar with her, she is not popular there…” It seems that added Wangzhuxian’s segment were only a hearsay.
About the incidental music
Many a number Wangjiawei ‘s movie fans think that the incidental music of < Ashes of Time> was perfect and left nothing to be desired. However, Wangjiawei decided to change them, so he invited the international musician Mayouyou to performance for the new edition. As the person in charge for the new edition’s incidental music, how did he deal with the performance of Mayouyou?

I had decided not to make incidental music for any movie after I finished Movie <The lost of angel>. After several years, Wangjiawei and Liuzhenwei telephoned me and said:” Please come and help us。” They had some problems in their incidental music, in this case, I went and helped them for making the music for the movie <The Only One in the World>. He is severe about music, so we discuss intensely each time.
This time he asked me to cooperate with the incidental music of the new edition, I consented with pleasure but I asked for enough time, I didn’t want to make them in a hurry as before. He promised and asked me to prepare them as my please. And then, he asked the famous international musician Mayouyou to performance the music, I was working in Paris so I couldn’t come back. He said that he had invited Mayouyou to perform my music and asked my suggestions. Actually, I did not really care about whomever to perform my music, he could invite the famous international musician for me, of course, I felt very happy. And now the reserved incidental music consisted of mine and Mayouyou’s, I don’t know whether you can classify them.
When I matched incidental music for the old edition in 1994, Wangjiawei and I had many different ideas. For example, in the movie there was a segment described that Zhangmanyu stood along the beach, facing the ocean along. I added the sound of sea-gulls and I though it can create a sorrow-stricken atmosphere which give prominence to the actress’s frame of mind. However, Wangjiawei did not agree with me, at last, he compromised to me. But this time, when he found there was no sea-gulls’ sound in that segment, he asked me to add them again. Ha ha (Mr. Chen smile) I came home to find the type but only to find that they were all got moldy.
Wangjiawei also got his frame in filmdom for changing his mind vertiginous, everyone has accustomed to his actions. We can not sure whether the edition Mr. Chen saw can be the real new edition which Wangjiawei would bring to Cannas. Our world become changeable because there is a man called Wangjiawei—no one could image that he would remake < Ashes of Time: ultimate edition> .
