Talking your plans over with a mentor may help you to see things you would only have determined through trial and error before.
While a creative concept is a good foundation for a business plan, it’s important to realize that you will need more than an idea in order to interest others in your product. You will need to perform that mental balancing act that will keep your creative concept alive and fresh while surrounding it with all the solid underpinnings, and framework that will allow it to become a viable business. If you approach your plan by writing down your picture of what your business will look like one year in the future and then flesh out the plan to incorporate each needed step, you will end up with a business plan.
Take time every day to continue the process of dreaming and implementing what you’ve dreamed. This will give you time for yourself, especially if you are able to do your dreaming while walking or jogging.
Especially if you are planning on quitting your day job, you will want to make sure you have balance in your life. You should balance working and not working, Balance things you do for fun with things you do only because you must. Take some time every single day to think about something bigger than you are and take some time every day in order to help someone smaller than you are.
Stay focused. Maintain a comprehensive plan for 1 year, 2 years and 5 years. This doesn’t mean that you never have and fun. It means that are keeping your short term and long term goals in front of you self. Have a goal just for today if you wish. Know what you want to accomplish today and do it.
Spend some time doing, not just planning. The ability to live in and enjoy life as you pass through is a precious gift and one which should be enjoyed to the fullest.
