I know must people sees the title and think when blacks were slaves. What I really want to say is that today, we are all slaves!
The reason why I say this is because I have come to realize that no matter how much money we make, we will forever be unhappy (the most of us anyway). I strongly believe that this is deliberate. The few up power have come up with a way to make is think and behave as modern slaves.
Back in the day, slaves had to work very hard and be content with a roof over their heads and a little food to eat. Today, that would be unacceptable. Instead, you groomed to fit the middle class stereotype. In this class, you work long hours and barely have time to spend with your family. So many long hours and hard work to be content with a small % of what all your hard work produces. Here's a little example. A friend of mine works something like 50 hours a week and has a yearly sales quota of 1 million dollars. He gets about 50 000$/ year to generate 1 million. Nobody will ever tell you that happiness is based on your net worth. We are conditioned to do the opposite though.
It's true that celebrities and athletes are so messed up these days. Who would have thought?! We, in the middle class, will always say: "man, if I had that kind of money, I would never fall into that stuff and I would be so happy", well something along those lines.
It's easy to say that money does not define happiness because it doesn't! The messed up part about knowing this is that we kill ourselves to get as much money as we can in our lifetime.
Again, why is that? Are we not told everyday that we can all be wealthy, have all the nicest things. After all, this is the land of milk and honey.
We are given all the "opportunities" the world to live the best life. We are bombarded on a daily basis with new products. It's very hard to resist so we end up putting ourselves in debt to get them, we sacrifice family for them and you give up your freedom for them.
The wise man said that money does not buy happiness ... why don't we listen? That, in my opinion, is the new slavery ... mental slavery.
I could go on and on and give more examples but I want know what you think.
Have the few in power figured out a way to make the middle class modern slaves?
