Taiwan's tourism authority announced new measures to attract visitors from the mainland on Thursday, including more direct flights, lower ticket prices, and longer stays.
Daily charter flights will be fully implemented in the next ten days. To attract more mainland visitors, Taiwan's tourism authority has extended the duration of visits from 10 days to 15 and has lowered the minimum group size from 10 people down to 5.
Janice Lai, chairwoman of Taiwan Cross-Strait Tourism Assoc., said, "Now a group of 5 people is our minimum requirement. That means one or two families can travel together. They can arrange travel schedules totally according to their wishes."
Individuals from the mainland are still not allowed to travel alone in Taiwan but authorities say one-third of a group's travel time can be spent on personal activities.
